Like how I compared the Stands of previous Parts, I’ve ranked the Stone Ocean Stands from weakest to strongest based on a few key parameters.
I’ll be looking at each Stand’s Power, Range, Intelligence (Int.), Design and Cool factor. Based on the total score, we’ll find out which Stand truly reigns supreme!
Before we begin, you can check out some of my related blog posts below:
25 – Survivor (Guccio)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 2 | 2 | 1 | 5 | 2 | 12 |
Dio said that “Survivor” was the weakest Stand he’d ever come across, and I’d have to agree. It has the lowest Total Score of any Stand in the series.
Its ability is to make people angry, and to make them feel less pain. Good for sowing chaos, terrible as a Stand.
24 – Green, Green Grass of Home (The Green Baby)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 6 | 5 | 2 | 4 | 3 | 20 |
There was a lot of mystery surrounding the Green Baby in the middle part of Stone Ocean. I have to admit I was a little underwhelmed by the resulting Stand.
The shrinking Power is one we’ve seen too many times before, but the perspective angle (or the “perspective perspective”?) made it more interesting. Weak Stand, though.
23 – Burning Down the House (Emporio Alnino)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 2 | 1 | 8 | 6 | 4 | 21 |
Spoilers for the ending of Stone Ocean, if you haven’t seen it already – the only way in hell Emporio was going to stand a chance against Pucci was if he used someone else’s Stand, as otherwise “Burning Down the House” is one of the weakest Stands.
Emporio can visit, and subsequently stash items, in a secret room. Good for him, I guess?
22 – Goo Goo Dolls (Gwess)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 5 | 5 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 22 |
Like with the Green Baby, Gwess’s Stand ability involves shrinking Jolyne down in order to stand a chance. In other words, it doesn’t have much Power.
Since Gwess is an early adversary in Stone Ocean, she also comes across as a bit of an idiot. Weak Stand and dumb User – not a great combo.
21 – Highway to Hell (Thunder McQueen)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 8 | 7 | 4 | 4 | 1 | 24 |
I quite like “Highway to Hell’s” morbid power – any damage the suicidal Thunder McQueen inflicts on himself also inflicts on Ermes. Useless for other Users, but in McQueen’s case it makes him quite Powerful over decent Range.
Where this Stand takes a hefty score hit, however, is in the Cool department. I tend to ask myself for this category – “would I want this as my Stand?”. In the sake of “Highway to Hell”, there can’t be many worse Stands to have.
20 – Manhatten Transfer (Johngalli A.)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 1 | 10 | 5 | 5 | 4 | 25 |
“Manhattan Transfer” ended up being a tricky Stand to score. Its abilities are quite minimal and support-based, so its Power is one of the weakest I’ve seen.
When paired with Johngalli A.’s sniping prowess, however, “Manhattan Transfer” has an exceptional Range.
Should it have a Power of 10 and a Range of 1 instead, as it needs to be extremely close to the bullets but then those bullets have the Power of a sniper rifle? Maybe. Still the same Total Score either way.
19 – Planet Waves (Viviano Westwood)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 5 | 6 | 6 | 6 | 4 | 27 |
Fun fact – “Planet Waves” was originally called “Earth Wind And Fire”, but then Araki remembered he’d already called the shape-shifting alien’s Stand from Diamond Is Unbreakable the same thing. That’s the most exciting thing about it.
Comets from the sky … Easily dodged under normal circumstances, but “Survivor” mixing up the pot made it a slightly-more-than-mediocre Stand.
18 – Dragon’s Dream (Kenzou)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 7 | 4 | 8 | 7 | 4 | 30 |
Another Stand from the Maximum Security Ward Arc. Needless to say, these few episodes had some of the weakest Stands and battles in the series.
Kenzou’s feng shui Stand “Dragon’s Dream” seems to be Powerful, as far as I could tell, but it was quite hard to discern whether the true Power came from the Stand or the User.
17 – Sky High (Rikiel)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 8 | 9 | 6 | 4 | 4 | 31 |
Rikiel, more than any other Stand User, felt like he was winging it the whole time. Who can blame him – the ability to control “sky rods” (or whatever they are) is pretty lame, so I wouldn’t give it much thought either.
“Sky High” has a good Range, though, and I was surprised by how Powerful it was. It certainly gave Jolyne a run for her money!
16 – Diver Down (Narciso Anasui)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 7 | 3 | 8 | 7 | 6 | 31 |
“Diver Down” is portrayed as some all-Powerful get-out-of-jail-free-card in the latter half of Stone Ocean. I didn’t quite see the hype.
Anasui’s Intelligence is definitely his biggest strength, as otherwise the Stand has an undefined ability set that involves rearranging anatomy and passing through matter.
15 – Yo-Yo Ma (D an G)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 9 | 10 | 2 | 6 | 5 | 32 |
Automatic pursuit Stands tend to finish in the middle of the pack in these kinds of rankings.
“Yo-Yo Ma” is as Powerful and wide-reaching as you’d expect, and yet again the low Intelligence of an automatic Stand lets it down in this format.
14 – Bohemian Rhapsody (Ungalo)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 9 | 10 | 3 | 6 | 5 | 33 |
“Bohemian Rhapsody” was by far one of the most overpowered Stands in the Part. Its ability to suck people into inescapable stories should’ve been impossible to beat if it wasn’t for a bit of brilliance courtesy of Weather Report.
The major drawback, I think, is that Ungalo is one of the dumbest Users in Stone Ocean.
13 – Marilyn Manson (Miraschon)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 10 | 7 | 6 | 6 | 6 | 35 |
Like the D’Arby brothers in Stardust Crusaders, Miraschon’s “Marilyn Manson” is an insta-kill Stand if the right conditions are met.
The betting / ball-game aspect isn’t necessarily as Cool as a gambler and a gamer, but the idea was there – and the episode itself was very entertaining.
12 – Limp Bizkit (Sports Maxx)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 6 | 9 | 6 | 7 | 7 | 35 |
Sports Maxx was Ermes’s big foe in Stone Ocean, and their fight was definitely one of the best in the Part.
I like how Maxx’s ability takes effect even after his death – an army of dead / taxidermized / zombified / invisible thralls would’ve been even more Powerful in the right hands.
11 – Whitesnake (Enrico Pucci)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 7 | 3 | 9 | 9 | 7 | 35 |
I’ve been holding back on my Design scores so far, but that’s only because “Whitesnake” is by far my favourite Stand Design of Stone Ocean. That mask and those symbols on its skin are terrifying!
Pucci’s Intelligence is what made him such a formidable force early on in the Part … as otherwise his Stand wasn’t particularly Powerful.
10 – Jail House Lock (Miuccia Miuller)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 7 | 10 | 6 | 8 | 5 | 36 |
“Jail House Lock” is one of those Stands that seems impossible to beat when it’s first introduced.
The amnesia ability may seem weak at first, but its Range extends over the whole prison and effectively debilitates Jolyne’s capabilities.
9 – Kiss (Ermes Costello)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 6 | 10 | 8 | 6 | 7 | 37 |
Ermes’s quick-thinking and seemingly infinite Range made “Kiss” finish in the top ten of this ranking, as otherwise I don’t think its score would’ve been that high.
It had some Cool applications across Stone Ocean but it hardly blew my socks off.
8 – Jumpin’ Jack Flash (Lang Rangler)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 8 | 8 | 7 | 7 | 7 | 37 |
“Jumpin’ Jack Flash” was an all-round Powerful enemy Stand that very nearly bested Jolyne.
The gravity-defying vacuum bubbles would’ve been OP if not for “Weather Report” being OP-er.
7 – Star Platinum (Jotaro Cujoh)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 9 | 3 | 9 | 7 | 9 | 37 |
It’s a testament to how insane Stands have gotten that Star Platinum, almost the same strength as his previous iterations, doesn’t even break into Stone Ocean’s top five.
The ability to stop time is still crazy Powerful, and Jotaro still has a good head on his shoulders. Unfortunately for him, though, other Stands around him became unbelievably strong.
6 – Under World (Donatello Versus)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 9 | 9 | 6 | 6 | 8 | 38 |
A Stand that can “dig up memories” doesn’t sound very thrilling on paper, but how “Under World” was used made it such a great Stand.
The ability to trap adversaries in an ill-fated memory, like a crashing plane, was more Powerful than it had any right to be. In better hands this could’ve been a top three Stand.
5 – Foo Fighters (F.F.)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 8 | 8 | 7 | 8 | 8 | 39 |
Every JoJo Part has an enemy-turned-ally that ended up being one of the best characters – Polnareff, Rohan, Bucciarati and now F.F.
Her Stand “Foo Fighters” is another great all-rounder, with solid Power and Range with her bullets and flexibility.
4 – Stone Free (Jolyne Cujoh)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 6 | 8 | 10 | 8 | 8 | 40 |
I don’t think it’s controversial to say “Stone Free” is the weakest Stand any JoJo protagonist has had (well, if you exclude “Hermit Purple”). Its User just happens to be one of the most Intelligent people in the series.
Jolyne always found new and exciting ways to apply her Stand, and it was especially big-brained when she turned her strands into Mobius Strips to counteract Pucci’s inverting Stand. Speaking of which …
3 – C-MOON (Enrico Pucci)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 9 | 10 | 9 | 7 | 8 | 43 |
When Pucci emerged with his new Stand – with a deadly ability to invert anything it touched – it seemed like it was game over for everyone. You can imagine my surprise when he got a new, even more Powerful Stand a couple of episodes later.
You could argue that “C-MOON” has a small Range (about 2 or 3) because it needs to touch something for it to work, but I attribute the gravity shifts of the whole Space Centre to this Stand too. In other words, a Range of 10 seemed more appropriate.
2 – Weather Report (Weather Report)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 9 | 10 | 9 | 8 | 9 | 45 |
Weather Report had the aura and Intelligence of a JoJo, yet he was only a side character. His Stand was also way too Powerful. In other words, “Weather Report” is nigh-unbeatable.
De-oxygenation, raining poison frogs, horny snails that turn anyone they touch into horny snails … the fact “Weather Report” was the Stand to beat Pucci also takes it up a notch.
1 – Made in Heaven (Enrico Pucci)
| POWER | RANGE | INT. | DESIGN | COOL | TOTAL |
| 10 | 10 | 9 | 8 | 9 | 46 |
“Made in Heaven” is the most unfair Stand in the series. How come Pucci got back-to-back Stand upgrades?!?
Time acceleration and ungodly speeds to the point where the universe literally implodes. No other Stand will ever come close to this kind of Power.
Aaaand that’s my list! That’s the last Stand comparison until “Steel Ball Run” comes out … but until then, you can check out some of my latest posts below:

We’ve made it – after thirty cases of Deep Diving, we’ve finally reached the most recent cast in the mainline games as of the time of writing this post. “Turnabout Time Traveler” is a special case added onto “Spirit Of Justice” … so is it as special as it claims to be? I’ll be deconstructing…

Every “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” Game Award Ranked By How Deserved They Were
For the first time in my life, I stayed up until 4 a.m. to watch The Game Awards – mostly in support of my favourite game this year “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33”. You can imagine how happy I am that it won the most trophies in Game Awards history! This game won nine (!!!) awards…
