Edgar Wright hasn’t made many films in his career, but his ceaseless ingenuity and style shine through in every movie – he’s quickly becoming one of my favourite directors of all time.
Now that I’ve seen all six of his major releases, I can finally rank them all. Let’s get to it!

Good
6 – Last Night In Soho
Wright’s most recent movie at the time of writing this list, and unfortunately “Last Night In Soho” is my least favourite by quite some margin.
His first descent into pure horror has some amazing practical effects and cinematography, but the story and its twists didn’t do enough to win me over. Still, a fun – albeit unsettling – time at the movies.
Amazing
5 – Scott Pilgrim vs The World
Even though “Scott Pilgrim vs The World” is in second-to-last place on this list, you can be damn sure I had a fantastic time with it.
Wright’s visual style and comedy is through the roof, and all of the various musical / physical battles are executed flawlessly. If I had to nitpick, I’d say that sometimes the film gets a little too hectic and unfocussed.
4 – The World’s End
The weakest entry of the Cornetto trilogy, and yet “The World’s End” provides a bombastic and uproarious climax to the three thinly-related films.
The core cast of characters are perfectly acted and have amazing chemistry, and the sudden veer into Sci-Fi horror was expertly handled. Not only that, but this ended up being a surprisingly touching and heartfelt study of a down-trodden man trying to recapture the magic of his youth.
All-Time Great
3 – Shaun Of The Dead
Edgar Wright already has three all-timers under his belt, and he’s only released six films – that’s a 50% masterpiece rate!
His first major film, “Shaun Of The Dead”, already had the hallmarks of witty writing and fast-paced editing. The cast, including regulars like Pegg and Frost, are perfectly suited to his style, and the film delivers on both the action and the heart.
2 – Baby Driver
If you look past the fact that half of the cast have been cancelled into oblivion, “Baby Driver” is one of the best action films of the last decade.
The driving stunts are jaw-dropping, the tightly-woven soundtrack is phenomenal, and the emotional core of Baby and Debora carries even the least mind-blowing of scenes.
1 – Hot Fuzz
Wright took everything he learnt from “Shaun of the Dead”, as well as most of its incredible cast, to make his magnum opus – “Hot Fuzz”.
Every joke both lands and has some amazing foreshadowing and pay-off, and the murder mystery story is genuinely intriguing and subversive. One of the best, most faultless, comedy films ever made.

Every “DOOM: The Dark Ages” Level Ranked
I recently replayed “DOOM: The Dark Ages” out of sheer boredom, and I had a good time yet again. It was one of my favourite games of 2025 so I wanted to see if it still held up. I have to admit it wasn’t as tight an experience the second time around, especially when compared…
My “Danganronpa 2×2” Predictions
As unbelievable as it is to say, we’re getting a direct sequel / alternate scenario game to “Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair”. Even as I’m typing it now it doesn’t feel real. I’m going to predict the new victims and culprits (or “Blackeneds”) of each chapter for a bit of fun. I was tempted to try…
Top 10 Albums of the 1980’s
I’ve recently been going through every year in music for my thorough retrospectives, and as such I’ve been exposed to some fantastic albums. I wanted to talk about some of my favourites – this time looking at the 1980’s. I reviewed fifty albums as part of that decade’s retrospectives (five per year), all of which…
