Being a fan of the Star Wars prequels (well, “Revenge of the Sith” mostly) I was pretty hyped for the Kenobi TV series. While it didn’t blow my socks off, it was still an enjoyable ride.
Some of it was great, some of it was pretty rubbish – but how would I rank all six episodes?

Meh
6 – Part IV
An episode that almost made me stop watching the show, “Part IV” is lucky to barely avoid the “Bad” tier.
The directing was laughably bad, Reva’s faults as a villain were on full display, and the story wasn’t interesting in the slightest. When a slap to a stormtrooper’s head nearly knocks him out, you know something is wrong.
OK
5 – Part I
While not being a bad start to the show at all, “Part I” was definitely one of the most boring episodes of the season.
The cold open was pretty neat, but the rest of the runtime was dedicated to setting up later plot threads.
Good
4 – Part II
Getting off of Tatooine (finally …) made for a nice change of pace, and the faults of the first episode were less apparent in “Part II”.
Reva was still problematic as an antagonist – especially when she “killed” the Grand Inquisitor, that really grinded my gears. Also, Obi-Wan’s reaction when he found out that Anakin was still alive was the best moment in the series up until that point.
3 – Part III
There were quite a few plot holes / bad direction choices in “Part III” that took me out of it (just step around the fire for goodness sake!), but the spectacle was much better.
I was actually starting to enjoy watching the show by this episode, and the first Obi-Wan vs. Darth Vader duel is decent enough. It hasn’t got the best choreography, but it’s a start.
Great
2 – Part V
The first four episodes vaguely grabbed by attention, but “Part V” was when I was finally hooked (better late than never).
Ignoring the terrible stormtrooper aim, there are some great action scenes in this episode – Reva and Obi-Wan’s conversation was good, her fight with Vader was unique, and Vader stopping the ship from taking off was the kind of power I was dying to see from him.
1 – Part VI
At the time of writing this I’ve only finished the series finale about half an hour ago, but I think it’s the best episode by far.
It’s a great climax, and I was satisfied with how the characters and story concluded. The fight between Obi-Wan and Vader was pretty cool, but it was the emotional scene between them near the end that I’ll remember most – the heartbreak on Obi-Wan’s face and pure rage on Anakin’s made it the best moment of the series.
Season Rating: B-
The show picked up in quality by the end, but those first four episodes were far too shaky for my liking. If it wasn’t for Vader and Obi-Wan’s presence, this could have been a completely forgettable show.
Aaand that’s my list. You can check out some of my latest blog posts below:
EVERY Doctor Who Monster Ranked
I started making this list in early June, and it was originally going to be a celebration of “Doctor Who” and its eclectic cast of monsters. After the recent news that it’s been put out to tender, however, I can’t help but feel that this has turned into a sort of autopsy. Either way, one…
Top 20 Videogame Performances Of All Time
There was a time roughly two decades ago when videogame acting was considered a “lesser” acting medium. Audiences played the games and enjoyed the silly voices, but you hardly ever experienced a performance worth appreciating or awarding. But near the end of the 2000’s, when performance capture was taking off and videogame writing began improving…
Every “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” Area Ranked
I recently replayed “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” for the third time, and it was just as awesome as the first and second. I made an effort on this playthrough to explore every corner of every area … and some areas were definitely better than others. I’m going to rank every “substantial” area in the game,…
