After the admittedly stale double-bill of Seasons 13 & 14 I was hesitant going into the newest set of episodes – but Season 15 blew my expectations out of the water.
The whole Ireland arc was some of the best Sunny we’ve had in years, and it breathed life into the show in new and exciting ways. How would I rank all of the episodes?

8 – The Gang Buys a Roller Rink
Rating: C+
It’s great that we finally got a flashback episode, but the story itself isn’t too interesting.
The scene where Dennis observes Frank’s “business” is funny, and there was the cool revelation that Charlie is actually majority shareholder of the bar. Not bad, but not worth a repeat viewing either.
7 – 2020: A Year in Review
Rating: C+
I’m from the UK, so even though I understand the tumultuous politics going on in America I can’t say I’m too bothered by it.
None of the three stories really gripped me, but they weren’t bad either. The ending where they edited characters into major events like in Forrest Gump was definitely the highlight.
6 – Dee Sinks In a Bog
Rating: B
The weakest of the Ireland arc, but “Dee Sinks In a Bog” still had some classic Sunny gags.
Dee sinking in the titular bog had its moments, although I felt it was a little drawn out. The dinner and church scenes are what really shine, as the turd-in-soup / paedophile priest storylines were shockingly entertaining.
5 – The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 7
Rating: B
Not nearly as strong as the other Lethal Weapon instalments, but “The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 7” still had me laughing from time to time.
The actual film they make is pretty underwhelming, but their reactions to it going wrong are funny. It’s Dennis that steals the show this time around – his manipulation of millennials was hilarious.
4 – The Gang Goes to Ireland
Rating: B
The first of the Ireland arc, “The Gang Goes to Ireland” kicks things off in a fresh and entertaining way – it’s episodes like this that made Season 15 feel like a return to form.
There are lots of great gags throughout, and my personal favourites are Dennis smelling hair / his general raging and Mac’s call with his mom that sets up his identity crisis.
3 – The Gang Replaces Dee With a Monkey
Rating: A-
An episode that came completely out of nowhere, “The Gang Replaces Dee With a Monkey” just contains some really funny conversations and moments.
The writing is top notch, and the CGI monkey isn’t bad either. I love how they set up the Ireland arc in the oddest and most disgusting way possible.
2 – The Gang Carries a Corpse Up a Mountain
Rating: A
The most recent episode at the time of writing, and the Season 15 finale “The Gang Carries a Corpse Up a Mountain” could have even been the series finale.
The dialogue is so hilarious, and the performances are exceptional – Charlie Day in particular kills it, and his emotional monologue almost reduced me to tears. I only hope that the future episodes are half as good as this.
1 – The Gang’s Still In Ireland
Rating: A
The funniest Sunny episode in years, “The Gang’s Still In Ireland” works on every fundamental level.
The Mac plot where he visits the church is so funny, the Dennis COVID / trying not to cough gag was the most I’ve laughed at this show in ages, and the Charlie / Frank adventure is the emotional throughline that ties it all together. All in all, a perfect episode of Sunny that may go down as one of the all-time greats in a few years.
Season Rating: B+
This was a really great season – I only wish it was longer than eight episodes!
Now let’s look at the stats for the season:
- 3A (38%)
- 3B (38%)
- 2C (25%)
And now, with every season ranked and reviewed, let’s look at the stats for the series as a whole:
- 39A (25%)
- 85B (54%)
- 28C (18%)
- 3D (2%)
- 1E (1%)
With a quarter of the episodes being amazing, about four-fifths being at least good, and only 3% being sub-par, it’s no wonder that It’s Always Sunny is my favourite comedy series of all time.
Aaand that’s my list – and the last season that I’ll be reviewing as well! I’ll be back with some other Sunny-related lists soon, but in the meantime you can check out some of my latest blog posts below:
“Conflict of Interest” – Cases Ranked / Review
After playing and loving “Contempt of Court”, I decided to play the other renowned Ace Attorney fangame – “Conflict of Interest”, itself inspired by the former. It got off to a shaky start, but I was thoroughly impressed with it by the time the final credits rolled. Before I give a quick review, let’s rank…
Super Mario Galaxy – 10 Best (& Worst) Stars
Super Mario Galaxy is easily one of my favourite games of all time, and I’ve already ranked each galaxy, but that doesn’t tell the whole story – I’m going to pick my 10 favourite (and least favourite) stars / levels. As an added challenge, I’m not going to pick any of the purple coin levels.…
